2011 Ford Territory recall, 3681 affected
Ford Australia has recalled 3681 2011 Ford Territory SUVs after a potential fuel line leak was reported. Ford says both petrol and diesel 2011 Ford Territory SZ models built between February and July this year are affected.
According to the report issued on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission website, affected vehicles could experience a fuel leak coming from the fuel line return hose.
A connection in the line has the potential to disconnect which would result in fuel leaking onto the ground under the vehicle. The recall notice explains this could result in a fire hazard.
Ford Australia says 2011 Ford Territory models produced between February and July this year are affected, while the recall notice explains the vehicles were sold between June 1 and July 31. Ford Australia's public affairs director Sinead Phipps (nee McAlary) advised CarAdvice:
"Owners are being contacted and asked to present their vehicle to a Ford dealership to have an additonal retention clip fitted to the fuel return pipe at no charge to the customer."
If unsure, customers are encouraged to contact either their local Ford dealer, or to call Ford's Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672 for more information.
