2011 Renault Koleos free servicing offer until March

By Tim Beissmann |

Renault Australia is offering the 2011 Renault Koleos SUV with three years’ free scheduled servicing for a limited time.

Between now and the end of March, participating Renault dealers will offer the special deal to all new Koleos buyers.

For petrol models, it includes four services with intervals of 10,000km, to a maximum of 40,000km or three years (whichever comes first).

For diesels, there are three services with 15,000km intervals included, to a maximum of 45,000km or three years (whichever comes first).

Renault Australia predicts the offer will lead to approximately $1400 worth of savings to owners of both petrol- and diesel-powered models over the three year period.

Renault Australia managing director, Justin Hocevar, said the brand believed removing the costs of scheduled servicing from the family budget for the first three years would appeal to buyers in the compact SUV market.

“The benefits are not only budgetary, because by having the vehicle serviced by an authorised Renault dealer will ensure that only genuine and approved Renault parts will be fitted, ensuring the ongoing reliability and durability of the vehicle,” Mr Hocevar said.

“That’s good for peace of mind as well as enhancing the resale value of the vehicle at the end of its time with the first owner.”

The Renault Koleos is available in three specification levels, with the option of front- and all-wheel drive, petrol and diesel engines, and manual, automatic and continuously variable transmissions.

Prices range from $28,490 for the Expression 4×2 manual (currently $29,990 driveaway) to $43,990 for the Privilege 4×4.

The Koleos is a small player in the compact SUV segment, with just 816 sales in 2010 giving it a 0.7 percent share of the market. Sales were down almost 20 percent compared with 2009, when the Koleos had a 1.2 percent share of the market.

I feel a bit sorry for Renault in Australia. They really do have a product that is no worse and in some cases, much better than the competition and they are even properly good value, yet still they fail to sell many. I’d rather see a few more of these on the road and a few less X Trails and Rav4s.

You’d actually be surprised at how many I see on a regular basis, but you’re right, this deserves more sales than the hum-drum SUV Brigade normality.

The problems that Renault and to some degree Citroen and Puegeot have here is that they tend to enter and then exit the market leaving owners of their cars with no re-sele value. Couple this with a perception of poor quality/reliability. I don’t know how true the stories of poor quality are (I’ve never owned a French car) but these are things that stop me buying one of their cars.

I understand that this model has been scrapped in the UK due to poor sales, so I’m wondering if we are just seeing the last right hand drive factory stock land on these shores before it is taken of the Renault Australia product offering?

answer is no; if you log into the renault worldwide sales data on the renault website you will see that Koleos is an international car. Sure, they took it off the UK but how many SUVS are sold there anyway. The biggest SUV market is the US but renault does not sell there. IN fact the largest Koeles market is China.

When I was much younger, I recall seeing Renault on the road, then one day, POOF, gone. Does anyone know what happened?

Renault is a great brand a as reliable as a VW’s.

I don’t understand this UN-reliable issue, in europe majority of cars are Renault. I owned a Renault Clio for 5 years never had any issue, as did my friend’s with the Megane and Kangoo.

Good news roles out slower than bad news.

Renault are great cars, especially the Renault Sport Range.

    Renault Sport 4 the Win!

Remained do seem to be relatively decent cars, the Koleo, Megane and Fluence offer good value. Like Fiat’s faliure in Aus, I think it’s largely due to poor marketing, I never see any advertisement (both print and film) for these cars!

yeah not sure where all you guys are, but here in Sydney they have ALWAYS been on sale/discount ever since they brought them out… which really devalues the brand IMO.. and I agree, such a shame… cos they are good ( from what I know) cars.. Friend has a nearly new Clio auto – and its a great little car for the money…. shame they only do the sport one now…

Free servicing sounds like a pretty good deal to me.Especially when it’s combined with the Koleos’s very attractive pricing . I’ve had a Koleos since May 2010 and they’re well worth considering.

This is a great offer from Renault, except for the fact that I’m a long way from the nearest Renault dealer. I travelled 1100km to get my Privelige, and a 6-year warranty was on offer, but only if I had it serviced at that Gold Coast dealer! So it’s back to 3 years for me, but at least I can have it serviced at the local Nissan dealership, and at a price far lower than my previous Korean diesel. Fuel economy was poor at first but now settling down to be reasonable. Given that the beige interior was a strong selling point for me, its dropping is a backward move- it allowed the Koleos to stand out from the others. Now they have only boring, hot, claustrophobic black like everyone else.
