2016 Jeep Renegade recalled for Park Assist fix

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Australia has flagged a small number of vehicles in the new 2016 Jeep Renegade range for a pre-delivery software upgrade.

The recall centres on the vehicle’s optional Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist mode, which is available with the high-spec Limited and Trailhawk models.

FCA Australia reports that the system “may not work as intended”, potentially failing to bring the vehicle to a complete stop during the parking process. The company says that a software upgrade will resolve the issue.

The ‘recall’ affects six Renegade vehicles in the 2015-2016 range, although all are still in the company’s possession and will be upgraded before customer delivery.

Launched locally in October last year, the compact Renegade SUV ended 2015 with 291 sales to its credit. (January figures are expected to be published this week.)

Sales for January may bring a handy uptick for the Renegade, after a new-year tweak to the line-up that saw prices drop by up to $2500. Read more on that here.
