The updated 2013 McLaren MP4-12C supercar will make its world premiere at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in England.
The refreshed British speedster receives performance and styling enhancements that include a boosted engine power figure of 460kW – in line with the free power upgrade package recently revealed by McLaren. Throttle and gearshift modifications, a striking new Volcano Yellow paint finish and a new diamond-cut wheel finish available on multiple wheel designs including a new five-spoke lightweight-forged wheel are also included.
The updates mean a slightly quicker top speed (up from 330km/h to 333km/h) and less time getting there, with the 2013 model dropping a full second off its 0-300km/h time (26.5 seconds). The car’s 0-100km/h time remains at 3.1 seconds. The improved pace doesn’t come at the cost of increased emissions though with fuel consumption remaining at 11.7 litres per 100km and CO2 at 279 grams per kilometre.
Exclusive new interior trim comprising high quality semi-aniline perforated leather and Alcantara increases quality over the current MP4-12C. A new option sees flat piping around the perimeter of the seats and along the edge of the door card insert finished in Carbon Black and available in McLaren Orange, Harissa Red or Stone Grey.
The new McLaren will be punted up the famous Goodwood Hill by non-other than McLaren Mercedes driver and Brit Jenson Button and will be joined at the festival by its McLaren 12C GT3 big brother. The GT3 car will be presented in a ‘couldn’t-be-more-British’ Union Jack livery that stretches the length of the car.
