2009 Renault Megane spied
A French car magazine has captured photos of a completely undisguised 2009 Renault Megane.
The images reveal both a sensible five-door version and hot coupe just begging for an F1 treatment.
Similarities with the purposely flamboyant design of the Megane Concept can also be seen, which was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
The five-door Megane will rival the likes of the Ford Focus, VW Golf and Mazda3 among a sea of conventional hatch backs.
However it is the performance version which will draw the most interest, following Renault’s reputation for producing brilliant hot hatches.
Appropriately, the 2009 Renault Megane will make its official debut at the Paris Auto Show in September with European sales to follow later this year.

I like it. I also like the current one but this one is very neat and handsome. The dash is nice and if the new lagunas anything to go by, will be built well with quality materials. The coupe looks like the new scirocco.

Agree Mitch, the rear looks similar to a Mazda 2 and I also think the side of the car looks similar to the MAZDA 3 hatch.

if renualt can bring this in for the same price as curent model thay could be on to a winner the megane has been successful an dmany that drive the love them.Considering this lokks better than a corroal or mazda 3 in my opinion with renualts usual 6 airbags and 5 star rating this will sell well now about the clio III

The prototype for this megan was design by Pininfarini in Italy for Renault. The overall shape is very similar but does not have the gull wing doors thankfully or the radical rear end treatment. Looks a little bland as others use slashes and creases on panels to introduce features.
Not disimilar to the Fiat ritmo or the forthcoming scirroco!!

I don’t really like it for one reason the headlights seem out of proportion with the rest of the car. But apart from that seems not bad.

Frogs cant do interiors for shit. Ergonomic and visual disasters. They are kings of the hatch though! Great cars to drive.

There is one big problem - will it be better than the similarly priced new golf? hmmm - i doubt it. Another thing is that if it comes out in 2009 than Australia will have only just gotten the new clio! The clio will already look dated. It also begs the question of why the f**k did they make the new Laguna so plain and boring if they are willing to take risks on things like this? I think that the 308 looks better and would prefer one of those but I have a feeling that this is a car that will look better in the flesh. I think that if Renault want to really make it in Australia they should make this car 2-3K less than its competitors (308, Golf, C4). I am sure that they would sell well her in London but there arnt too many renaults around in Aus. However, one of these coupes in R26 spec would look SWEET!

looks great imo some more conventional styling then the previous clio. Im sure its very practical, efficient and oh so European great to drive too. I dont think it will sell in huge numbers though when its competition (corolla,3, focus)are priced so much chepaer. its main euro hatch competitor the golf has its reputation and volkswagen badge. fills a niche alongside the c4 perfectly.

JONO -
Renault is a brand in AUS. that is going NOWHERE, infact it would be going backwards…..
The model mix and range is all over the place, as our the prices and marketing.
They need to start again, import rebadged Dacia products and have another go.
It hasnt worked at all, total failure thus far.For a factory run operation its appaling!
Cheers

I think its a beaut! I think this could really give Renault Aus a huge boost in sales!!!! They shouldnt delay like the Laguna or likewise the Clio (haha, the Laguna beat the Clio here!!!wen the Lahuna is heaps newer!)
The Mégane is a make or break model so they should make it count!!!!
But from wot i see here its a beaut!! good luck renault
