Nissan’s luxury car division, Infiniti, in the US has released an early teaser image of its all-new seven-seat crossover called the Infiniti JX. Infiniti isn’t planning on unveiling the car in full until the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event in August.
Although the image is quite blurred the general outline of the car can be seen. It looks like the JX will feature a pronounced ‘shark’ nose like the new range of Infiniti vehicles to come out. It also appears to include a very high wasteline giving the car a strong crossover stance rather than a tall off-road car.
Engine details are just as vague at this stage although reports say to expect a variety of power options, including a diesel package and a possible hybrid. Carlos Tavares, chairman, Nissan Americas, recently spoke about the JX, saying,
“The all-new Infiniti JX crossover will allow us to continue to expand the Infiniti brand’s presence in the Americas.”
With Tavares calling it a crossover it is likely to also feature, at least optionally, an all-wheel drive system of some sort. Meanwhile, Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti America, also said,
“The all-new Infiniti JX is the seven-passenger antidote to the ho-hum luxury crossovers that are out there right now.” Saying the car will offer “a stunning interior, while offering exceptional seating flexibility, easy access to the roomy third row, plus the latest in-vehicle technology – including next-generation telematics.”
The Infiniti JX will be officially unveiled at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance show in California, US, in August and then make its production form debut in November at the 2011 Los Angles Auto Show. Sales in the US will apparently commence during the first half of 2012.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any other early teaser previews in the meantime.
