2010 Volkswagen Golf GTi Review

Let me preface this by stating that I’m not a die-hard, Wolfsburg-loving Volkswagen fanatic - like most of the other users on here I just love cars. I’d be just as happy to have an E82 BMW 135i coupe, Mercedes-Benz A250, Mazda 3 MPS, or Audi S3 parked in my driveway - something more than just a ‘point A to B’ car...

2014 Volkswagen Golf GTi Performance Review

We have just bought one of these rocket ships, and without a doubt one of the best small car performers we have ever owned. Finished in glorious red with black 19" rims looks fabulous. The total package of the vehicle is spectacular, including, finish, styling, performance, braking and ride...

2013 Volkswagen Golf 110 TDI Highline Review

You hear about horror stories and nightmares with VW cars. More often than not any VW article on this very site is taken over by people expressing their opinion on how unreliable they are and warning to not buy their vehicles. My story is different and in the time I have had the Golf (Nearly a Year) it has performed almost without fault...

2009 Volkswagen Golf R32 Review

I have owned the MY09 R32 with DSG since new for over 5 years. At the time, the sales guy told me I bought the last Deep Blue Pearl R32 in Australia. I might have been late to jump on the R32 bandwagon but better late than never. This car still drives and feels like it did on the day I picked it up. It has not had a single issue and I have not heard a single creak or rattle...

2010 Volkswagen Golf 118 TSI Comfortline Review

Overall this has been a fantastic car. Practical, fun and engaging to drive and pretty much trouble-free to own. I know others on the internet have not had such a good experience with this model but they are thankfully very much in the minority. (Remember - no one ever complains about how their car *doesn't * have problems..

2012 Volkswagen Golf 90 TSI Trendline Review

I've had this car now for two and a half years and around 50,0000km. It has twice in that time gone into "limp home mode" for no apparent reason. Both times I corrected it bey restarting, and no fault was recorded. I have quite a steep driveway and it sometimes gets the shudders going up. I find that putting it in S1 or manual 1 rather than D prevents this, so it seems to be a software issue...

2011 Volkswagen Golf R Review

We love our Volkswagen Golf R! Although quite expensive for a small car, for us it ticked all the boxes – number one being its safety rating. Perfect for zipping around narrow city streets and a gem to park into those squeezy spots, I would recommend a Volkswagen to all of my family and friends...

2007 Volkswagen Golf 2.0TDI Comfortline Review

Our Volkswagen Golf is a reliable, cost effective car to drive. We have covered over 200,000km with some minor electrical faults being the only problems. It's easy to pack for a weekend away too, even with two adults, one toddler and two small dogs.

2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Adidas Review

I bought my Volkswagen Golf on the basis that it won many, many awards. And on some accounts it deserves them. The 155kW engine sounds brilliant and, although not the fastest car, it delivers peppy performance. On the other hand, it delivers shocking economy (sometimes averaging more than 15L/100km) and goes through a lot of oil...

2010 Volkswagen Golf 90TSI Trendline Review

As a car to drive and experience my Volkswagen Golf 90TSI Trendline has been fantastic. It is spacious, handles well and has been a real pleasure to use. The problems with this car have been with reliability and electrics. Our car has had electrical failures every year, totalling six electrical failures inside the warranty period...

2012 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 118 TSI COMFORTLINE Review

A quiet, superbly economical long-distance cruiser with seats providing all-day comfort, this car shows how careful development can produce a small car suitable both for country and town. There is no magic here: engineering makes the difference. When the Chinese - as they will - want the bare bones of a car which can beat most other vehicles on the road for quietness, cruising silence and real-world economy, this will be their target...
