Lotus to partner with Williams Engineering for electrified drivetrains

In a statement released overnight Lotus and Williams confirmed a technical partnership where they will "share research and development into advanced propulsion technologies". Official details about the full extent of the partnership are thin on the ground, but it should be noted, Williams has experience in battery technology and electric drivetrains through its involvement in Formula E. Backed by new majority owner Geely, Lotus is developing an electric hypercar, codenamed Omega.

Williams F1 signs long-term engine deal with Mercedes-Benz

Williams F1 and Mercedes-Benz have announced a long-term engine partnership commencing from the 2014 Formula 1 World Championship season. The agreement will see Williams supplied with a Mercedes-Benz power unit – comprising an internal combustion engine and energy recovery system – manufactured in Brixworth, UK, by Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains. Williams will remain responsible for producing its own transmissions.
