2018 Ford Focus RS LE: owner review
350HP. Tenacious AWD. Ferocious grip. Eye-catching looks. Antisocial pops and bangs on demand. Plus 4 doors and a spacious boot... what's not to like?

- The always-on-tap power and limpet-like all paw grip!
- Turning circle is SUV-like.

One of the best bang-per-buck cars out there for under $60k, especially as most of the competitors are front-wheel drive only. Good luck finding a Focus RS though, as production ended in 2018 and numbers are low, especially for the Limited Edition.
Sure the ride is firm, but it's not back breaking. The car drives with intent and presence. Economy is average but that is very dependent on your right foot! Sports mode is the go-to option for 95% of driving.
Its turning circle is a bit rubbish, but no worse than your average land barge (ie large SUV). Given its somewhat budget price point and that production stopped in 2018 the interior tech is starting to look a bit dated, but Apple CarPlay/Android Auto work acceptably.
Engine and transmission is one option; a heavily turbocharged 2.3-litre Ecobeast with a slick-shifting manual. No slush-boxes here!
Reliability is good, provided you don't do any stupid mods.
It's simply phenomenal on a twisty mountain road, but still useful tootling around town with a load of groceries in the back.
The Focus RS is the last of a dying breed as cars go hybrid and electric. It is unlikely that Ford will do another RS, so the value of it keeps going up. A future classic!
