2014 Audi A3 1.4 TFSI Attraction Cod Review
I have recently taken ownership of the all new Audi A3 Cabriolet. Coming from a 2005 Mazda MX-5, I was looking for a sophisticated smooth ride whilst retaining the open air feel for summer. The A3 Cab delivers comfort, peppy performance in spades and I'm not really missing the MX-5 much at all...I thought I'd never be able to replace the experience of the legendary roadster.
- Smooth ride, COD is totally unnoticeable, Driver tech is in par with mote expensive series, Tight chassis even with roof dropped down, Looks sensational with 18' rotor wheels
- Auto stop start can be slow off the mark, So smooth and quiet, it doesn't excite like a sports car
Having driven just in 2,000k over the past 2 months, the car has obviously been reliable and surprisingly flawless. The dual clutch transmission seems silky smooth except for a barely noticeable shudder between 2nd and 3rd gear when in very low revs, but again, you really need to be one with the car to even notice.
Seating is extremely comfortable up front but the back seats are probably only good for short trips. The boot is quite spacious for a cabriolet when the roof is up and the back seats fold flat using cleaver levers from the boot. Perfect for carrying a dog with the drop top down!
Combining Cylinder On Demand technology, a great smooth 1.4 motor and stop start tech delivers 680k to a tank with ease, however if you love the feel of the turbo wind-up, be prepared to pull economy this back around 100k per tank.
The auto park feature is a brilliant gadget which is relatively easy to use but takes time to gain confidence with. You really need to have your wits about you when reverse parking as it seems to pull in too close for call - it's perception though as the sensors magnificently pull the vehicle in within millimeters if it's surrounds.
Overall a brilliant head-turner that's nimble, economical and packed full of cool tech!
