2009 SKODA OCTAVIA RS 2.0 TDI Review
Over the past 4 years of ownership so have struggled with this car - many problems with a replaced clutch system (parts paid by Skoda) - an extremely rough ride in this car - erratic take off, rolling back when performing hill starts, and even episodes where the car turbo fan would continue for 15-20 mins after turning the engine off and locking the car.
- Boot space is fabulous, Seats are good looking, Excellent headlights/fog lights
- Bunny hopping on takeoff, Bad hill starts, Rough
These problems, which still strike me as being extremely unsafe to drive, especially in heavy traffic leads me to leave this unflattering review.
It is a shame as the car always looked really smart in black with all the extras - although no GPS.
It has always seemed to me that the diesel is not sitting well alongside the turbo in this model of the Skoda Octavia RS.
Many tests have been performed on this car with no real solution to the problems. Unfortunately, being difficult to control the car, it was involved in an accident in peak hour traffic about two years ago.
I did take the car on a long trip from Brisbane to Adelaide round trip and it certainly performed well on the open road. This is in sharp contrast to how it behaves in heavy traffic.
As a working musician with lots of gear to carry, the feature if the car that is truly amazing is the boot space. It is huge and seats are easily configured to suit loading in.
The other positive note is the engine torque and power behind the wheel - it's quite impressive when you take the car out on the road.
