Subaru Impreza raced by Ken Block listed for sale
According to the seller, this Subaru Impreza was driven by late rally driver and YouTube stunt star Ken Block in various X Games rallycross events between 2006 and 2009.
A 2004 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS previously raced by late rally driver and YouTube stunt-driving superstar Ken Block has been listed for sale on the Bring A Trailer auction website.
According to the listing description, the Impreza was converted into a race car by Vermont SportsCar after it was declared a total loss due to water damage in 2005.
It was then reportedly obtained by Ken Block in 2006, who raced the Subaru with co-driver Alex Gelsomino in a number of X Games events.
Though Block found early fame with his Gymkhana stunt-driving YouTube series in a Subaru, this vehicle was not used in one of the videos.
Based on a 2004 Impreza, Subaru fans will notice this car has undergone a swap to the front-end styling of a newer-model Impreza – nicknamed the ‘Hawk Eye’ – which was reportedly completed by Vermont SportsCar before Block acquired the car.
Under the bonnet sits a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine, connected to a five-speed manual transmission which sends power to all four wheels.
A driver-controlled centre differential, and front and rear limited-slip differentials complete the rally-ready drivetrain.
The Impreza sits on Öhlins shock absorbers which are paired with Cusco suspension components, while all-terrain tyres are paired with the gold 15-inch Work wheels the car it is presented on.
Other rally-specific modifications include a bonnet-mounted driving light cluster, Recaro racing seats, and a stripped-out interior with a roll cage.
The Impreza has been wrapped with a #43 Monster Energy livery — the same used by Block when competing.
It’s noted by the seller the vehicle has been “involved in a number of on-track accidents and has since been repaired.”
The cracked front spoiler and other blemishes around the body hint at this history as a competitive race car.
The top bid was $US65,500 ($AU101,000) at the time of writing, with the auction due to end on 21 December 2023.
