Mazda has commenced production of the new2017 CX-5 at its Ujina plant near Hiroshima, ahead of the medium SUV’s Japanese-market introduction in February next year.
Introduced at the LA Auto Show earlier this month, the new CX-5 evolves Mazda’s Kodo design language with a new look inside and out that builds on styling themes established by the first generation CX-5, as well as the larger seven-seat CX-9.
The CX-5 is a key model for Mazda globally, with sales increasing year-on-year since the model was introduced in 2011 making up almost a quarter of Mazda’s overall sales volume around the world.
