Queen Elizabeth’s Range Rover emerges for sale online

A 2016 Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography LWB which was once owned by Queen Elizabeth II has emerged for sale online. 

Listed by English luxury car dealer Bramley Motor Cars, the Range Rover rose to fame in 2016 after being used to transport former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama during their visit to the United Kingdom. 

Famously, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II drove the SUV to meet Mr and Mrs Obama after the Marine One helicopter landed on the grounds of Windsor Castle. 

After welcoming the President of the United States and his wife to Windsor, Prince Philip then drove the group in the Range Rover to Windsor Castle.

It’s worth noting this was likely one of the only times Barack Obama would have travelled using a car other than in his heavily-armoured limousine – known as The Beast – during his presidency.

Despite this, it is understood the SUV was modified by Range Rover’s Gaydon workshop prior to the Queen taking delivery. 

The listing states the SUV was fitted with covert police emergency lighting and additional grab handles to help access the second row.

It also received fixed side steps — something that isn’t able to be optioned by the public due to a lack of homologation. 

Following the Royal Family’s ownership of this SUV ending, the majority of special parts were removed – except for the grab handles. 

The screens mounted in the back of the headrests were removed for the Queen, but have since been retrofitted. 

A sole alarm warning sticker remains beneath the bonnet of the Range Rover, hinting at the vehicle’s previous life. 

The Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography LWB is being offered for an undisclosed price with 30,000km showing on the odometer. 

Highlights include the dark sapphire blue paint over an ivory leather interior, with a panoramic glass sunroof and a Harmon Kardon speaker system.

The SUV is powered by a 4.4-litre turbo-diesel V8 engine which sends power to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. 

The seller notes the SUV will be sold with the same “OU16XVH” plates which were used by the royal family during their tenure. 

This is reportedly a rare occurrence, with royal registration plates usually being changed prior to public sale.

The Range Rover was retired from Royal duties with 2586 miles on the odometer (4162km) and is currently showing 18,206 miles (29,300km). The asking price is listed at £224,850 ($AU434,830).
