New Ford Focus Caught Unclothed
Next Focus won’t go to Geneva
A tourist has captured an image of the new Ford Focus during a photo shoot in Cascais, Portugal that shows the hatchback in full ahead of its official debut.
But the fourth-generation hatchback won’t be making its first appearance at Geneva in March – as previously reported – and will instead feature at its own event held in April.
The event will reveal the new Focus hatchback in a range of base to mid-grade specifications. The top spec Vignale for European markets that sits above the Titanium grade sold in Australia is tipped to debut at a later date along with the hot ST hatch. An SUV-inspired crossover wagon is also expected but the warm ST-Line, which is likely the blue vehicle spotted in Portugal, should be at the launch according to a Ford insider.
Only snapping the one photo before being yelled at by staff on set, the photo supplied to Hungarian news site Vezess.hu reveals the next Focus receives a new look all-round. Restyled front and rear bumpers sit above a sporty front-splitter and rear diffuser while the body work has been pinched out for sharper creases. New LED headlights, taillights and alloy wheels update looks further and a full panoramic glass sunroof covers the top.
A range of petrol and diesel engines are expected to feature in the line-up with the sportiest ST model getting a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor and a hybrid joining the ranks. An update to the Ford Performance engineered RS is at least 18 months away from making an appearance.
Inside the Focus will receive a major update that could mimic the design of the new European Fiesta which features a floating central infotainment system and decluttered dash layout.
The next Focus will see more body style options and further separation across the range and a sedan version may make appear at the New York International Motor Show that kicks off at the end of March.
