New details on Porsche Cayenne Hybrid
Although Porsche's Cayenne Hybrid S was first unveiled way back in November 2007 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, it's been quite some time since we've had any updates on specific details of the high-performance, fuel efficient SUV - until now.
Porsche has announced this morning that the Cayenne Hybrid S will use an Audi sourced 3.0-litre V6 engine - developing 248kW of power and 439Nm of torque - coupled to an electric motor that contributes a further 39kW and 300Nm to the equation.
These figures should be enough to propel the Cayenne Hybrid S from 0-100 km/h in under seven seconds.
Despite its high-performance aspiration, it is claimed the Cayenne Hybrid S will have 20 per cent fewer CO2 emissions than its petrol equivalent though official emissions and fuel consumption figures have not yet been released.
The new Cayenne Hybrid S will be capable of travelling up to two kilometres on electric power alone during which time speeds of up to 140km/h can be reached before the petrol engine kicks in.
A date for when the Cayenne Hybrid S will be available for purchase has not yet been announced, though we expect later this year or early 2010.
