After a mixed bag for the first month of the year, Australia’s new car sales figures settled into a familiar rhythm in February with the Toyota Corolla topping the tables as the nation’s best-selling car.
VFACTS reveals that while passenger car sales are down overall, with some segments in freefall, the Corolla verses Mazda3 battle to be Number One will be on again in 2016.
While Mazda enjoyed something of a summer holiday in January, Corolla outsold the ‘3’ by 101 units last month - but is still 863 sales behind for the year-to-date.
The ‘familiar’ sales table also saw the Toyota HiLux slot into third position with 3261 sales, ahead of Ford’s Ranger in fourth (2655 sales) and the Mitsubishi Triton in seventh (2165 sales) to win the sales-race for pickup models.
