Mini adds more gear to Cooper hatch
British brand’s small hatch gets more standard equipment and cheaper options range.
Mini has announced it has added more standard gear and more affordable options to its three- and five-door Cooper hatchbacks.
This move goes some way to rectifying one of the British brand's biggest hurdles, which was the lack of standard equipment and an overly expensive options list on Cooper hatches.
While the base Mini Cooper only gets halogen fog lights as standard in this update, it is offering some more affordable option packages.
The first being the Multimedia Essentials pack which offers in-built satellite navigation, Bluetooth, USB audio streaming, front armrest and a reversing camera for $1500.
After a buyer has included the aforementioned options pack they can further upgrade to the Convenience pack which includes an alarm system, front and rear park assist and anti dazzle interior and exterior mirrors at a further cost of $1800.
Starting price for the base Cooper hatch remains at $26,650 and $27,750 plus on road costs for the three- and five-door models respectively.
Stepping up to the Cooper S variant, it now comes standard with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights and a reversing camera at an extra cost of $800, which takes the price up to $37,750 and $38,850 for the three- and five-door Cooper S variants respectively.
An updated Convenience package adds an alarm, front and rear park assist and anti-dazzle mirrors again at an extra cost of $1800.
A Control package is available with active cruise control, forward collision warning, city crash mitigation and adaptive high beams, adaptive headlights and tyre pressure monitoring. The Control package comes at a cost of $1500.
