Melbourne’s Motorclassica car show cancelled
Despite returning last year – off the back of two COVID-19-related delays – the Motorclassica car show in Melbourne has been cancelled for 2023.
The Motorclassica show – a celebration of vintage, classic and modern cars – has been cancelled for 2023, just a fortnight before doors were due to open at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building.
Having returned last year following a two-year hiatus, the 2023 edition of Motorclassica was due to run from Friday October 6 to Sunday October 9.
In a post uploaded to social media platform Facebook, the organisers of Motorclassica put out a short statement, announcing the cancellation of the 2023 event.
A reason for the cancellation was not given.
The 2022 edition of Motorclassica marked a return for the event following two years of it being placed on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
Last year a number of rare and valuable cars were put on display the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, including a 2023 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, 1994 Bugatti EB110 Super Sport, 2014 McLaren P1 and a 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III – the latter of which took out the “Australian Classics 1950-1980” award.
BMW also exhibited its then-recently-unveiled BMW XM super SUV and M3 Touring performance wagon, as well as the new M2 sports coupe – behind closed doors and only a handful of days before it was revealed globally.
