McLaren Updates Sports Series Line-Up

McLaren is giving customers the option to add a firmer and more dynamic Sport Pack to its plush riding 570GT so it drives more like the 570S Coupe but with a little extra space.

The only grand tourer in the British marque’s Sports Series line-up, the 570GT has received sportier extras in response to requests.

Along with carbon-ceramic disc brakes being fitted as standard, the new cost-option Sport Pack replaces the steering rack, damper actuators and uprights for the same setup found in the 570S Coupe and Spider, substitutes the Pirelli P Zero tyres for grippier P Zero Corsa rubber and re-tunes the adaptive dampers, steering and electronic stability control to the 570S’ sport settings.

The mid-engine supercar can now also be optioned with an electrochromic panoramic sunroof that uses an electric current to change the opacity of the glass to the driver’s liking. 

Popularity of the GT model and requests for something sportier should add up to even higher sales according to Jolyon Nash, McLaren executive director of global sales and marketing.

“With the new 570GT Sport Pack, we have reacted to market requests for a 570GT with the driving dynamics of the 570S Coupé. This optional handling package gives the same chassis setup as the Coupé, while retaining the luxurious features, luggage space and looks of the 570GT.”

In addition to the Sport Pack customers can now add one of five Design Edition specials that combine some of most popular colours and interior options at a more affordable price than if selected separately.

They include a white exterior with tan and carbon black interior, blue over black and cream trim, silver on tan and carbon black interior, black on black and cream, and grey with black and white inside.

Furthermore, the latest 570S Spider exterior colours that were exclusive to the model have now been made available across the entire Sports Series range that include the 540C, 570S Coupe and 570GT. Lightweight 10-spoke forged alloys and optional black paint callipers are also available across the range.

All models can now be optioned with a reverse camera that displays on the centre of the digital instrument cluster while all coupe models are fitted with the 570S Coupe Track Pack’s 12mm taller spoiler.

The 570S Coupe also gets a minor change with the option to add one of six Alcantara interior options.

The changes bring a price hike to all Sports Series models except the 570S Spider, however, the local arm’s managing director George Biggs says sales should continue to break new ground for the British supercar maker here.

“Sports Series has a strong appeal to Australian customers, this is demonstrated by our VFACTS sales data,” he said.

“The recent launch of the 570S Spider and the latest inclusion of these new product upgrades, it will strengthen and continue our sales momentum this year.”

Pricing for the 570S Spider remains unchanged at $435,750 plus on-road costs, the rest of the Sports Series sees a price hike.

The 570GT rises from $406,800 to $415,000 and the new Sport Pack costs an additional $13,100.
