McLaren Artura owners told to stop driving due to fire risk

McLaren has recalled 18 examples of its 2022-2023 McLaren Artura and told owners to stop driving their supercars, citing a fault with the twin-turbo V6's fuel system which could lead to an engine fire.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect, the low pressure fuel pipe assembly may detach. If this occurs, fuel may leak in the presence of an external ignition source resulting in a vehicle fire.

"A vehicle fire could increase the risk of causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage property."

McLaren has advised it has contacted affected owners in writing requesting they make an appointment with their preferred authorised McLaren Dealer to have the rectification work carried out, free of charge.

Until the repair has been completed, McLaren Artura owners have been told not to drive their cars.
