Lotus shows off plug-and-play digital dash
Designed for track-day enthusiasts, Lotus has unveiled a digital dashboard for Elise and Exige models.
A new digital instrument display could give Lotus owners an advantage on weekend track days, or outline to drivers where they went wrong.
The digital dash has been developed by Lotus as a plug-and-play system for owners of Elise and Exige V6 models built after 2008.
With 4000 race tracks pre-loaded, the digital cluster uses GPS technology to record lap times, providing real-time feedback and allowing drivers to download the data to a laptop for greater scrutiny and analysis.
The 6-inch colour screen dash also supports a camera, meaning drivers can more accurately pinpoint their driving inputs and see where there's room for improvement.
Lotus cars are popular among amateur track-day racers due to their sharp handling, stripped-out interior, as well as their powerful and reliable Toyota-sourced engines.
Lotus Australia has been contacted regarding availability of the Digital Instrument Pack and this article will be updated.
