Lotus has added another stripped-out Club Racer version to its Elise range, this time applying its weight reduction strategy to the supercharged Elise S.
The Elise S Club Racer weighs around 20kg lighter than its "full fat" base car, thanks to the deletion of non-essential mechanical components, body-coloured one-piece seats, the removal of the stereo system and even the deletion of central locking.
Air conditioning, thankfully, remains on the standard equipment list.
But unlike some stripped-out motorsport-oriented special editions, the Elise S Club Racer actually costs less than the regular Elise S, retailing for $83,250 - a saving of $1740.
The Club Racer is about more than just weight reduction though, and gains a stiffer Sports Suspension, adjustable front anti-roll bar, Sticky Yokohama tyres, Eibach springs, Bilstein dampers and a Sport setting for the stability control system.
