Lego celebrates Ayrton Senna’s 1988 McLaren Honda MP4/4 F1 car with new kit

Recreate the red and white racer Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna used to win his first Formula One World Championship.

Brazillian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna is widely considered to be one of the sport’s greatest racers, winning the F1 World Championship in 1988, 1990 and 1991.

Although his life was cut tragically short in a fatal accident at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, Senna’s legend and legacy live on.

To celebrate Senna’s first F1 World Championship, and the car that took him to victory, Lego has released a detailed model kit as part of its Icons series.

Featuring 693 pieces, Lego set 10330 recreates the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 Formula One car in its red and white Marlboro-sponsored livery – albeit without the tobacco branding.

The model features working steering, push-rod suspension, an adjustable rear wing and a detailed engine intended to mimic the Honda RA168E turbocharged V6 of the original car.

The set includes an Ayrton Senna figurine complete with a plaque, trophy and Senna’s iconic Brazilian-themed yellow and green helmet.

When complete, the McLaren MP4/4 model is 32cm long, 17cm wide and 12cm tall.

The kit will be available to order from the Lego website starting 1 March 2024.
