Hyundai adds Android Auto

South Korean brand adds smartphone mirroring technology to popular models.

Hyundai has added Android Auto to its suite of in-car infotainment technology which includes Apple CarPlay.

The smartphone mirroring tech will be available in all new i30, Elantra, Veloster, Tucson and Santa Fe models, while the Hyundai Accent, iMax and iLoad miss out.

Hyundai is offering a free Android Auto upgrade for any customers that have bought one of these vehicles recently and has Apple CarPlay compatibility. The software upgrade takes just 15 minutes and can be carried out at a Hyundai dealership.

The Android Auto system allows drivers and passengers to mirror their smartphones to access maps, send messages, make phone calls and access a range of apps via their touchscreen, which are especially important features for P-plate drivers in NSW that are no longer allowed to use their phone for any functions while driving including the use of maps.
