Here are more details of the five-door Suzuki Jimny ahead of its Australian arrival

Waiting for your five-door Suzuki Jimny? Pass the time by reading the brochure.

The much-anticipated Suzuki Jimny five-door isn't too far away from Australian shores, with an official pricing and specification announcement expected to be made in November this year.

As previously reported by Drive, more than 1000 people have registered their interest in the long-wheelbase off-roader. If you are one of them, this may help you pass the time.

Australian market three-door Jimnys are built in Japan, but the five-door Jimny is also produced in India by joint venture partner, Maruti Suzuki.

The five-door has been on sale in India for a couple of months, and while some details and specifications may differ from the cars heading to Australia, the Maruti brochure is able to answer a few questions ahead of the new car's local launch.

Cargo space in the long wheelbase Jimny is listed at 332 litres with the rear seats folded and 211 litres with the rear bench in place. While still small, this is a significant step up from the three-door that notes just 85 litres of luggage space in the back of the diminutive 4x4.

Colour options are shown with the 'hero' Kinetic Yellow and new Sizzling Red both paired with a contrasting roof, where grey, blue, black, white and red can be had in their full glory.

For the Indian market, the Sizzling Red car is shown in base trim only, with halogen headlamps, black steel wheels and no foglamps fitted, but Australian colour and trim combinations may differ.

Further to the brochure, a range of official accessories are also listed. These include body cladding elements, roof racks, weather shields and even decal kits, but use them as inspiration only as the local option catalogue may be more limited.

But if you really want to get ahead of the game, ahead of the car's arrival in Australia, a digital copy of the owner's manual is also available to download.

While the details do represent the Indian market car, one key element is worth calling out. In the section on Loading and Towing (8-1), the Jimny manual states: "Trailer Towing: Your vehicle was originally designed to carry people and a normal amount of cargo. Do not to tow a trailer."

No details are presented, but Drive suspects this is due to the lack of an approved (and engineered) tow bar for the Indian market.

The three-door Jimny already on sale in Australia has a 350kg unbraked and 1300kg braked tow rating, but it is not yet known if Australian-market five-door cars will match this.
