Four bedroom home for sale in rural NSW with one-kilometre race track
Forget a seachange – what you really need is a Grand Prix change.
Ever dreamed of owning a race track – or installing one in your back yard?
One Coonabarabran property in regional New South Wales has come up for sale that includes a race track, and it can be yours for just $750,000.
Approximately one kilometre in length, the B-shaped track is described as having been designed for motorcycles – though we imagine just as much fun could be had with a go kart, small hot hatch, or an early Mazda MX-5.
Some skilled drifters could also use it for practice, although the circuit does appear to be a bit narrow.
Along with a race track, you will also get a modern four-bedroom home that is completely off-grid thanks to both solar and wind turbine power, as well as an indoor heated swimming pool, double garage, a large machinery shed, cattle yards, and four dams.
Named 'Effrene', the property is on 410 hectares (1012 acres) of land with plenty of natural bush, of which approximately one third has been cleared.
Located 33 kilometres east of Coonabarabran, it's a little over two-hours drive from the regional cities of Dubbo and Tamworth, or 3.5 hours from Bathurst.
While there aren't too many private race tracks in Australia, the lucky buyer will be in good company.
As the story goes, in 1996 the CEO of Coca-Cola, Dean Wills, lost his licence while driving his Ferrari Testarossa near Sydney, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Mr Wills instead went about having a 22-corner private circuit built at his property in Kulnura, north of Sydney – though lap times aren't recorded and racing isn't allowed.
