Citroen will unveil a new take on its quirky 2007 C-Cactus concept at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show, and a new teaser released this week offers a first glimpse at what's to come.
The teaser image offers little, although it's clear the new Cactus concept will wear narrow headlights similar to the units adorning the new C4 Picasso wagon.
It's expected that the new concept will debut as a tall five-door hatch, and a production debut is set to occur later this year or early in 2014.
The French carmaker promises a "totally new" styling approach with the Cactus, adopting a line of design never before seen on a Citroen model.
Earlier reports have suggested Citroen will replace the current C3 with this new model, as part of a push to make the Citroen brand a budget-focused partner to the more upmarket Peugeot.
The carmaker's DS offshoot is expected to drop the 'Citroen' portion of its name and sit alongside - or even above - Peugeot as the more luxurious options in the company's range.
While the C range will embrace affordability, talk of the C-Cactus as inspiration suggests the carmaker will be looking to win buyers over not only with cost, but also with bold styling.
Watch for more details to come in Frankfurt next month.
