BMW has given its fastest coupe even more go - and show - with a special racing-inspired variant of the M6 coupe revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show.
The M6 Competition Edition borrows its lairy, retro-inspired livery from the CSL Hommage concept car recently revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours in California, which in turn traded heavily on BMW's traditional motorsport stripes.
More than just a dress-up pack though, the M6 Competition Edition features lightweight carbon fibre components, forged 20-inch matte black alloy wheels and an upgrade to the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that elevates its peak outputs to 441kW and 700Nm - an increase of 29kW and 20Nm respectively.
Inside, the cabin has also been modified to reflect its racey exterior with a full Merino leather trim that features body coloured contrasting stitching - either white or yellow to match the only exterior colours available - M6 Competition badges in the side sills and cupholder lids and interior highlights in carbon fibre and soft touch fake suede.
The Competition Edition is available to order as an option in Europe, and is likely to be offered to Australian customers from later this year.
