2024 Polestar 2 facelift coming soon to Australia
An updated Polestar 2 electric car has been spied testing in Europe – ahead of first Australian arrivals likely next year.
The facelifted 2024 Polestar 2 electric car has been spied testing, ahead of a possible launch here and overseas sometime next year.
While the Polestar 2 only arrived in Australia earlier this year, it has been in European Polestar showrooms since the middle of 2020 – making it due for a exterior styling update in 2023, after alloy wheel, interior trim and battery updates introduced for 2022 and 2023.
Updates to this ‘facelifted’ Polestar 2 prototype spied by Drive’s spy photography partners in Europe are mild, limited to a new blanked-off grille insert – combining a flat panel across its upper section, covered by camouflage, and a slim opening below with vertical strakes.
It appears to draw inspiration from Polestar’s next electric model, the Polestar 3 large SUV, which wears a similar blanked-off front ‘grille’ design. The grille surround on this prototype also seems to have been blacked out.
No other updates are visible on the prototype; the interior is unchanged from the car in showrooms today, and behind the white tape on the wheels is the same 19-inch alloy design introduced for the Model Year 2023 Polestar 2, available to order now.
Few other details of what the updated Polestar 2 will offer are known – including when it will go on sale.
However, it’s expected to be a Model Year 2024 (MY24) vehicle, indicating order books will open early next year – 12 months after orders for MY23 cars commenced – ahead of first Australian deliveries likely in the second half of 2023.
The current Polestar 2 range is available in a choice of three variants – across 67kWh Standard Range and 75kWh Long Range battery packs, with 170kW/330Nm single-motor and 300kW/660Nm dual-motor configurations.
Prices currently start from $63,900 plus on-road costs for a Standard Range Single Motor grade, and rise to $73,400 plus on-road costs for Long Range Dual Motor variant – before option packages are added.
