2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 updates announced for Australia

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 full-size pick-up gains new features for 2024 – including parking sensors and adaptive cruise control on the six-metre-long, $130,000-plus ZR2 off-road edition.

All versions of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pick-up in Australia will be fitted with a new sports exhaust – and a safety gap will be plugged for the ZR2 off-road edition – as part of updates due in the coming months.

Announced today by General Motors Specialty Vehicles – the Australian division of the US car giant – the Silverado 1500 pick-up range will receive a series of new features for Model Year 2024 (MY24) production.

It follows a more comprehensive mid-life facelift earlier this year which brought a new look, overhauled interior, and the ZR2 off-road flagship variant – beside the existing LTZ Premium model.

Prices for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 range is yet to be announced. The 2023 model is priced from $128,000 plus on-road costs for the LTZ Premium, or $133,000 plus on-road costs for the ZR2.

New across the line-up for 2024 is a bi-modal GM performance exhaust for the 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that remains in both models.

Meanwhile many of the features the ZR2 lacks compared to the LTZ Premium have been added to the equipment list.

Among them are front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control – which were previously not fitted to the vehicle which costs close to $150,000 drive-away, and measures almost six metres long.

Adaptive cruise control is standard on the base-model Isuzu D-Max automatic work ute at $34,000 plus on-road costs – while front and rear parking sensors are standard on an entry-level Hyundai Kona city SUV at $35,000 plus on-road costs.

Also new on the ZR2 for 2024 is a digital rear-view mirror, a 15-inch colour head up display, a power tilt and reach-adjustable steering column, and a Bose premium sound system. However it still goes without the LTZ Premium's sunroof.

Arrival timing for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 range is yet to be announced, however it is expected to be introduced in the coming months given it is a Model Year 2024 (MY24) vehicle.
