2023 Mazda CX-8 price and specs

The Mazda CX-8 large family SUV has received a facelift, with new styling and upgraded technology – but higher prices across the model range.

  • 2023 Mazda CX-8 pricing and specifications
  • New look for updated six- or seven-seater
  • Largest infotainment and driver displays standard on all models
  • Priced from $42,060 plus on-road costs

The 2023 Mazda CX-8 six- or seven-seater will cost up to $1550 more than the vehicle it replaces when the updated model arrives in showrooms this March.

The updated CX-8 mirrors changes to its five-seat CX-5 sibling last year, with a new front end, upgraded interior technology, and added features on multiple models.

Mazda Australia has increased prices by between $1400 and $1550, depending on model. This is after a price rise of $120 which was applied across the range on 1 January 2023.

The mid-trim Touring SP black-edition variant has been axed, and succeeded by a rugged-themed Touring Active grade, as per the CX-5 – while the GT variant has been replaced by the GT SP, with the black-accented parts from the Touring SP.

As previously reported, all Mazda CX-8 variants gain a restyled front fascia with a new grille, bumper, and on top-of-the-range model, upgraded adaptive LED headlights with 20 high-beam LEDs (up from 12).

There have also been changes to the rear bumper, as well as new signatures for the LED tail-lights – though the shape of the light clusters themselves haven't changed.

Inside, all models are fitted with a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – available in wireless and wired forms – plus satellite navigation.

Standard across the range is a 7.0-inch digital instrument display, plus USB-C ports for front occupants, and a function on the key fob for lowering all of the windows.

Previously, the 10.25-inch infotainment screen and 7.0-inch driver display were exclusive to the flagship Asaki and Asaki LE, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were wired only.

Other tweaks include a new Rhodium White exterior colour, claimed reductions in road noise and vibration, and a standard-fit drive mode selector on all-wheel-drive models.

Six model grades are available – Sport, Touring, Touring Active (new), GT, Asaki and Asaki LE – with petrol and/or diesel power, depending on model grade.

Petrol versions use a 2.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder engine with 140kW/252Nm, a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, while the diesel engine is a 140kW/450Nm 2.2-litre turbo four-cylinder with a six-speed auto and all-wheel drive.

The 2023 Mazda CX-8 is due in showrooms next month (March 2023).
