  • Facelifted model with more features
  • Upgraded turbo-petrol engine
  • Priced from $54,990 plus on-road costs

The 2023 Citroen C5 Aircross has received a facelift with a new look and features – but with a price rise of $2690, and a drive-away price of nearly $60,000.

Arriving in showrooms now, the updated C5 Aircross mid-size SUV is available in a single 'Sport' model grade, with black exterior trim and a longer equipment list than the outgoing Shine model.

It is priced from $54,990 plus on-road costs – an increase of $2690 over the outgoing model, but $12,000 more than the C5 Aircross Shine when it launched in Australia in 2019.

The facelifted model brings a refreshed exterior, a number of new new technology and luxury features previously unavailable in Australia, and a more powerful and frugal turbo petrol engine.

New features in Australia include full leather seat upholstery, a large 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, improved digital instrument cluster, heated front seats, and massaging for the driver's seat.

A panoramic sunroof is now standard, rather than a $1990 extra as before.

There is now a full suite of advanced safety technology, including adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assist for the first time in Australia – in addition to autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition from before.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert have returned to the equipment list, after they were removed in early 2022 due to the semiconductor shortage.

The 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine has been upgraded to 133kW and 250Nm, up from 121kW and 240Nm – now matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing six speeds, and more stringent Euro 6 emissions compliance.

Claimed fuel use has been slashed from 7.9 to 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres in mixed driving conditions. It is now equipped with auto stop/start technology that cuts the engine at the traffic lights to save fuel.

The 2023 Citroen C5 Aircross is in showrooms now.
