  • RS ditches diesel, while the entire range gains features
  • Priced from $52,990 drive-away

UPDATE, 7 December 2021: Drive-away prices for the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq range have risen by $1000 versus those announced in August – though all other details are unchanged. The original story continues below, with the updated pricing (and launch timing).

5 August 2021: The 2022 Skoda Kodiaq will be priced from $52,990 drive-away when it hits showrooms later this year – with an overhauled turbo-petrol RS flagship due in early 2022.

Skoda's seven-seat Kodiaq SUV has undergone its mid-life facelift for Model Year 2022, bringing updated exterior styling, revised interior technology and a major change under the bonnet for the performance-focused RS range-topper.

Exterior changes include reshaped bumpers, new scrolling indicators across the range and the addition of matrix LED headlights for the RS, while inside there's a new set of sports seats for the RS, new dashboard trim for the Style, and a host of other updates.

Three variants will be offered in Australia once the full range arrives by early next year, comprising the entry-level Style, sport-themed Sportline, and performance-oriented RS.

Opening the range is the Style, priced from $48,540 before on-road costs, or $52,990 drive-away (up $3500).

Standard equipment includes 19-inch black wheels, leather and suede upholstery, a 9.2-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and wireless smartphone mirroring, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, LED headlights and tail-lights, dual-zone climate control, a power tailgate, chrome exterior elements, and front and rear parking sensors.

Standard driver assistance systems include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, driver fatigue monitoring and tyre pressure monitoring – though blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and other systems are limited to more expensive variants or option packs (more details at the bottom of this story).

Powering the entry-level car is a carry-over 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 132kW and 320Nm to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Sitting above it is the Kodiaq Sportline, priced from $53,340 before on-road costs, or $57,990 drive-away (up $4000).

The Sportline features the same 132kW 2.0-litre engine as the Style, but adds a sportier exterior appearance, Alcantara and leather sports seats, 20-inch wheels, paddle shifters, matrix LED headlights (new for 2022), an electric driver's seat, sports steering, a drive mode selector, and more.

Due in showrooms in early 2022, the updated Kodiaq RS undergoes the biggest change of all, swapping the outgoing car's 176kW/500Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder for a 180kW/370Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder shared with the Skoda Octavia RS.

Priced from $67,440 before on-road costs, or $74,990 drive-away (no change), the RS sends drive to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch auto, accelerating it from zero to 100km/h in around 6.5 seconds.

Over the Sportline, the RS gains unique exterior styling elements, heated and ventilated front sports seats, tri-zone climate control, adaptive dampers, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, hands-free power tailgate, automatic parking, and more.

All Kodiaq models are offered as standard with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Up to seven colours are available, depending on variant, with metallic and pearl shades costing an extra $770, and Velvet Red 'premium' demanding an additional $1100.

The 2022 Skoda Kodiaq Style and Sportline will reach Australian showrooms in the coming weeks, followed by the RS in the first quarter of 2022 (January to March).
