2022 Porsche Macan T price and specs

Porsche has applied its sporty T (or Touring) badge to its most popular model, the Macan SUV, with four-cylinder power and a sharper driving experience.

  • 2022 Porsche Macan T pricing and specifications
  • T badge adds stiffer suspension, sportier all-wheel drive
  • Entry 2.0-litre four-cylinder the only engine available
  • Priced from $91,500 before on-road costs

Porsche has applied the same T badge bestowed upon its lightest sports cars to its most-popular model, the Macan SUV – creating the 2022 Porsche Macan T, due in Australia in mid-2022.

Revived for the modern 718 and 911 sports cars, Porsche says the T badge represents an "authentic driving experience thanks to precise tuning, exclusive equipment and efficient engines" – in other words, sharpening the dynamics and stripping weight from and the entry-level versions of the brand's models.

Priced from $91,500 before on-road costs, the new Macan T costs $6700 more than the entry-level, four-cylinder Macan variant on which it's based – but adds a range of visual and dynamic upgrades, including stiffer anti-roll bars and revised suspension tuning for "agile handling".

Porsche Active Suspension Management adaptive coil-spring suspension is standard – with a 15mm lower ride height than standard models – with adaptive air suspension available as an option (a first for a four-cylinder Macan), dropping the body by a further 10mm.

Torque vectoring can be optioned, which has been retuned specifically for the Macan T, while the all-wheel-drive system now shifts more power to the rear axle than before.

Visual upgrades include Agate Grey Metallic front trim, mirror caps, side blades, rear spoiler and badging, gloss black exhaust tips and window surrounds, black Macan T decals on the doors, 13 available colours, and 20-inch Macan S wheels finished in Dark Titanium.

Inside, highlights include eight-way electric front seats with heating and Porsche crest headrest embossing, black leather upholstery, a heated GT leather sports steering wheel, the Sport Chrono package, and unique Macan T-branded sill plates.

Buyers can option a Macan T interior package with Sport-Tex inserts for the front and rear seat centres, and silver stitching across the seats, headrests and steering wheel. A 10.9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, digital radio and satellite navigation is standard in Australia.

Powering the Macan T is the Macan range's entry-level 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 195kW and 400Nm to all four wheels through a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission.

While the four-cylinder is not as potent as the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 available in more expensive Macans, Porsche says there's 58.8kg less weighing down the front axle, improving handling – and with a 6.2-second 0-100km/h time and 232km/h top speed, the four-cylinder is still no slouch.

The 2022 Porsche Macan T is now available to order, ahead of first Australian deliveries in mid-2022.
