2022 Honda Civic revealed in patent filings
The next-generation Honda Civic has been revealed in patent images, giving us a first look at both sedan and hatch configurations
A new Honda model expected to debut as the 2022 Honda Civic has been revealed in recent patent filing uncovered on the CivicXI forum – five years after the current model made its global debut.
According to American publisher Car & Driver, Honda has confirmed it will unveil the new Civic around the middle of next year – officially in the northern hemisphere's spring season.
Shown in hatch and sedan configurations, the new 11th-generation Civic is immediately distinguished by a more Jazz-inspired face and an overall tamer, Accord-like style than the current 10th-gen model – introduced to undo the previous Civic's image as a somewhat dowdy offering.
"This tenth-generation Civic is quite simply the most ambitious remake of Civic we've ever done," the company's North American arm said at the time.

The new model's redesign also does away with the C-shaped brake lights that polarised buyers when first unveiled in 2015, introducing a more conventional design.
Interestingly, the view from the side reveals few changes, although a side-by-side comparison shows a number of small styling changes. For your entertainment, we've included an early patent image of the current model above.
This isn’t necessarily a definitive look at the car’s final form, however patent images often provide a good insight into design direction.
The vehicle is expected to be officially launched in the second half of next year, with Australian deliveries beginning in early 2022.
The current Civic sedan starts from $22,590 plus on road costs, while the Civic hatch starts at $22,790 plus on road costs.
