2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ goes into production

Just 30 customer examples of the record-shattering €3.5 million 'longtail' will be built.

The 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ has gone into production at the brand’s Molsheim factory in France, just over two years after it was revealed in near-production prototype guise.

The record-breaking hypercar – which is one of the fastest road-going vehicles ever built, and picks up a 56kW power bump over Bugatti's standard Chiron – is reportedly priced from €3.5 million ($AU5.7 million).

A retuned variant of Bugatti's famous 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 petrol engine sends a combined 1176kW/1600Nm to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

This powertrain – in conjunction with the ‘longtail’ body design, which reduces drag by “up to” 40 per cent – allows the 0-100km/h sprint to be completed in a claimed 2.4 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 440km/h.

While the original 2019 test car clocked a near-mythical 490.48km/h (304.77mph) on a closed-off test track, the production variant has been capped at the aforementioned speed due to safety and stability concerns.

The carbon-composite body is finished in gloss black and orange. Lightweight magnesium wheels fill the arches, wrapped in reinforced Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

Inside the cabin, both seats and the dashboard are trimmed in black and orange leather. Carbon-fibre highlights adorn the centre console, dashboard, and steering wheel.

Just 30 examples of the Bugatti Super Sport 300+ are slated for production, with eight built in the first manufacturing batch. Priced from approximately €3.5 million ($AU5.7 million), all examples have already been reserved.
