2021 Audi Q5 Sportback price and specs

Audi's rival for the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe arrives next month with a choice of two or three variants and plentiful standard kit.

  • 2021 Audi Q5 Sportback pricing and specifications
  • Coupe SUV to reach first buyers' driveways in August
  • Two four-cylinder variants, plus the V6 diesel SQ5
  • Priced from $77,000 before on-road costs

Australian pricing and specifications for the 2021 Audi Q5 Sportback have been revealed, ahead of first customer deliveries in August.

Following the updated version of the 'standard' Q5 launched in Australia earlier this year, Audi's mid-size luxury SUV has spawned a new coupe-styled Sportback variant, with a sloping roofline and a 510-litre boot – 10 litres less than its regular counterpart.

Two variants of the Q5 Sportback will be offered locally – 40 TDI and 45 TFSI – both with all-wheel drive and the S Line sports package equipped as standard. There's also a performance-oriented SQ5 Sportback variant – click here for pricing and spec details on the flagship variant.

Opening the range is the Q5 Sportback 40 TDI Quattro S Line, priced from $77,000 before on-road costs.

It's powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, sending 150kW and 400Nm to all four wheels though a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Audi quotes a 7.6-second 0-100km/h sprint time, towards a top speed of 222km/h. The engine is fitted with a 12-volt "mild-hybrid" electrical system, cutting claimed fuel economy to 5.4 litres per 100km combined, and extending the maximum driving range to 1250km.

Standard equipment includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen with smartphone mirroring and satellite navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, leather-appointed sports seats, wireless phone charging, tri-zone climate control, LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a hands-free power tailgate.

Standard safety features include autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, high-beam assist, semi-automated parking, and an exit warning system.

Stepping up to the 45 TFSI Quattro S Line – priced from $86,300 before on-road costs – brings a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 183kW and 370Nm to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. A 6.3-second 0-100km/h run is claimed.

Additional equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, matrix LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, an upgraded 10-speaker sound system, nappa leather upholstery, and unique 20-inch wheels.

Options range from the Comfort and Technik packs, to an assortment of stand-alone items. These are detailed at the bottom of this story.
