2021-2022 MG HS PHEV and HS Plus EV plug-in hybrids recalled due to fire risk

A number of plug-in hybrid models from Chinese car-maker MG have been recalled due to a fire risk.

Chinese car-maker MG has recalled 5168 examples of its 2021-2022 HS PHEV and HS Plus EV, citing an electrical fault that could spark a fire.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect, the carpet underlay may be positioned between the nut and the electrical ground stud. If the nut detaches overtime due to vibrations whilst driving, it could cause the wiring beneath the floor to overheat and it may result in a fire inside the vehicle."
