2018-2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter recalled with fire risk
A glow plug fault in diesel variants of the van could lead to a fire, according to the manufacturer.
Mercedes-Benz has recalled 665 diesel examples of its 2018-2019 Sprinter van, citing a potential fire risk.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “In the event of a frontal accident the power supply to the glow plugs may not be completely disconnected. If this were to occur it could result in a vehicle fire.
"A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or bystanders, as well as property damage.
"Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz and are asked to make arrangements with their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible."
