2017 Toyota LandCruiser 200 Altitude special edition revealed

Japanese brand adds more gear to popular bush-basher.

Toyota has wheeled out a special edition Altitude version of its LandCruiser 200 Series GXL just a week after giving the smaller Prado the same equipment boost.

In the case of the LandCruiser Altitude, the value-add package borrows from the LandCruiser's more upmarket variants with added features including leather seat trim, power-adjustable front seats and LED Optitron instrumentation with a 4.2-inch multi-information display.

Rain-sensing wipers, LED fog lights, chrome-trimmed front air conditioning vents and brushed alloy-look interior trims complete the Altitude package.

Standard GXL specification including 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone climate control, 6.1-inch touchscreen satellite navigation, six-speaker audio with DAB+ digital radio, seven airbags, and a reversing camera all remain for the Altitude.

Under the bonnet the LandCruiser Altitude packs the same 200kW/650Nm 4.5-litre twin-turbodiesel V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission as other models in the range, though the 4.6-litre petrol V8 engine available on other LandCruiser models isn't offered in Altitude trim.

Just 600 units of the 2017 LandCruiser altitude will be available, priced from $93,460 (plus on-road costs), representing a $4630 step-up over the standard GXL diesel.
