2015 Ford Focus pricing and specifications revealed

New engine, more technology and higher prices for updated blue oval small car.

Ford has loaded its new Focus small car range with more equipment and its latest engine technology - but it comes at a price.

The blue oval brand will drop the cheapest Ambiente model, leaving the Trend, Sport and Titanium specifications when the car hits dealerships in October.

That means the entry-price for the range will increase by $3100 with the Trend priced from $23,390 (plus on-road costs).

But the price increase comes with more equipment including the introduction of Ford's SYNC2 infotainment system, MyKey safety technology and reversing cameras across the range.

As previously reported, Ford has also ditched the 1.6-litre, 2.0-litre petrol and the 2.0-litre diesel engines in favour of a more powerful and more fuel efficient 1.5-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol unit.

The engine will be available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, replacing the previous model's dual-clutch auto; with the auto standard on the top-spec Titanium.

Other mechanical changes include changes to the suspension and steering for better dynamics.

The styling has also been updated with Ford's new larger grille at the front, a new bonnet and tweaks to the tailgate.

The interior has also been given a makeover with a new steering wheel and a cleaner central dashboard, thanks to the SYNC2 which now takes over many of the functions previously handled by buttons.

The Trend is equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, rear parking sensors, a six-speaker stereo and navigation (in addition to the previously mentioned SYNC2 and MyKey) as standard.

Stepping up to the Sport adds 17-inch alloys, sports tuned suspension, a sport bodykit, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and ignition, a nine-speaker stereo and digital radio.

The Titanium tops the range and comes with 18-inch alloys, leather trimmed sports seats, blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert, self-parking and autonomous emergency braking.

The Sport is only available as a hatch but the Trend and Titanium will also come in a four-door sedan, which is priced the same as their respective five-doors.

Ford Australia president Graeme Whickman is confident that the new technology will help attract more buyers to the Focus despite the higher entry price.

"Our award-winning EcoBoost engines are recognised globally for delivering fuel efficiency our customers expect without sacrificing performance when they need it," Whickman said. "Complementing the powerful EcoBoost technology is a stylish and sophisticated look and an enhanced list of standard features like voice-activated SYNC2 connectivity with 8-inch high-resolution colour screen, satellite navigation and rear view camera that will make the 2015 Focus a compelling reason for customers to put it on their shopping lists."

The new Focus range joins the already released 2015 Focus ST hot hatch.

In 2016 the blue oval will add the even more potent Focus RS to the line-up.
