Jeep is preparing to launch an update to its big Grand Cherokee SUV, expected to debut at next month's Detroit Auto Show.
Launched in Australia early last year, the Grand Cherokee is the first of Jeep's all-new model range that will debut over the next few years.
For 2013, the big SUV will get a 'de-chromed' grille design (at least on lower-end models) and redesigned lights at both ends, adding LED bands for a more upmarket look.
Updates to the cabin are also likely, including the addition of Chrysler's new 8.4 inch UConnect touchscreen display.
The 2013/2014 update should also see the Grand Cherokee pick up the long-awaited ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, already featured in the new Chrysler 300 sedan.
The transmission upgrade see fuel consumption figures improve, while possible powertrain tweaks should also bring efficiency benefits.
Watch for the updated Grand Cherokee to appear at the Detroit Auto Show. Australian timing is still to be confirmed, but we expect a late 2013 debut.
