Its coming may have been one of this year's worst-kept secrets, but Isuzu's new MU-X SUV is at last out in the open, and officially.
Based on the D-Max pickup, the MU-X is the latest new model to emerge from the collaborative project that also spawned Holden's Colorado utility and SUV twins.
The new Isuzu shares only its bonnet and front doors with the Colorado 7. Styling front and rear is heavily revised, there is a dominant rising crease running through to the tail-lights, bolder guards and, below, a completely new five-link rear-end layout.
Unveiling the MU-X today in Thailand, Isuzu has also confirmed Australian details and pricing: the range is set to kick off at $40,500. But those getting in early may be pleasantly surprised.
Speaking with TMR today, Isuzu Ute Australia's Dave Harding confirmed the MU-X will be offered with "very special" drive-away pricing to win buyers.
