Volvo's top-selling XC60 SUV has come in for a light 2013 update in Australia, gaining a new diesel-powered front-wheel-drive model, and a range of new optional safety features.
Joining the front-wheel-drive T5 petrol model, the arrival of the $58,490 XC60 D4 variant creates a new entry-end option for SUV shoppers.
Power is provided by Volvo's five-cylinder 2.0 litre turbodiesel, delivering 120kW at 3500rpm and 400Nm of torque between 2500 and 4600rpm.
Matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, Volvo lists fuel consumption for this model at a low 6.9 l/100km.
For 2013, the XC60 also picks up new optional safety features, including 'active high-beam', automatic headlights and road-sign information display.
Other new features for the MY13 XC60 include a lit gearshift, updated camera as part of the collision warning with full autobrake and pedestrian detection system, restyled number graphics for the rear badging, a grocery bag holder, and optional 20-inch AVIOR alloy wheels.
Volvo's 'city safe' collision avoidance system has also been updated, now capable of functioning at speeds up to 50km/h.
Models fitted with this system are also entitled to a 20 percent reduction on insurance premiums through Insurance Australia Group companies.
