2013 Audi R8 spy shots
The latest spy shots of the upcoming 2013 Audi R8 show the car free of any camouflage and looking very near to production.
The face-lifted R8 will bridge the gap until the second-generation R8 arrives which is expected in 2014/2015.
The 2013 car will receive a new sleeker headlight design, new grille and vent treatment with Audi e-tron-influenced single chrome rows – the previous crosshatch style has been dropped – and new front bumper.
The side skirts and rear bumper have been updated with round exhaust tips and a new taillight design both made more obvious by the contrast of having the black current-year R8, seen in the images, side-by-side.
Expect the same 4.2-litre V8 engine but fettled to deliver more performance than the current 309kW and 430Nm while seeing a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions.
The Audi R8 has been a huge success for the marque following its 2006 launch.
