2009 Porsche Cayenne Diesel premiere
Taking advantage of recent tax incentives for vehicles with diesel engines and its significant stake in Volkswagen Group, Porsche has introduced a new diesel model into the Cayenne range.
This new addition to the Cayenne range will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine borrowed from Audi, a subsidiary of the VW Group.
The new engine develops 176kW and a rather handy 550Nm while average fuel consumption drops to just 9.3 litres per 100km with emissions of 244g/km CO2.
Compression-ignition technology ensures spontaneous throttle response and combined with high torque characteristics delivers the required performance levels for an athletic all-terrain vehicle such as the Cayenne.
In line with customer demand, the Cayenne Diesel will be offered only in Europe, although preparation for market introduction in other countries is underway.
Porsche is also working on another Cayenne variant with hybrid drive that will exceed 7.6 litres per 100kms, and is planned to be launched onto the market at the end of the decade.
The new Cayenne Diesel will arrive in European showrooms from February 2009, equipped with the proven Tiptronic-S automatic gearbox as standard.
