Firsts are paramount to our mental growth. They tattoo our minds with an initial notion. Regardless of whether you like or dislike your first experience of something, it will remain deeply impactful on your soul for as long as you live. One in particular is your first car. All of your first memories of freedom become tied up in a piece of metal with four wheels...
Welcome to the first of a little series intended to highlight some of the best, most challenging, and most fun roads we (occasionally) get to drive on. Driving isn’t always about going fast; let me make that clear from the outset...
After 23 years and 10 key versions, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution calls it a day...
I was 17 years old and busily preparing for my final school exams when the current-generation Mitsubishi Lancer first went on sale in Australia. Little did that pimply teen know that in eight years he’d be road testing that same car – albeit refreshed with a few updates over that timeframe...
The Mitsubishi Lancer is now eight years old, which doesn’t put it quite in Land Rover Defender territory, though it is long in the tooth for a popular model. Today we’ve got the current base model, the ES Sport. As a manual it’s available from just $18,990, while this CVT with metallic paint costs about $21,500, making it one of the cheapest small autos from a mainstream brand...

Mitsubishi carved its reputation as a manufacturer of performance cars with the rally-bred Evolution Lancer sedans built from 1992 to 2016 – but such niche models have been difficult to justify in the modern automotive world as buyer tastes shift to SUVs...

According to Autocar, sources in Japan say Mitsubishi plans to "continue a rich history of Lancer Evolution models" with "supercar-beating acceleration together with the choice of either traditional four-door saloon or five-door hatchback body styles"...
Mitsubishi’s budget Mirage light hatch is almost certain to move upmarket in its next generation, onto an alliance platform shared with the Renault Clio and European Nissan Micra. Additionally, the company hasn't ruled out re-introducing the Lancer, which ceased production for western markets at the end of last year...

I like Mitsubishis even though I no longer drive one. Why? Price and reliability. In my household we have owned four Mitsus (equalling 25-plus years of ownership) and besides normal maintenance, tyres and batteries, we’ve only replaced the front brakes on one and some suspension bushes on another. Thats it. 25 years...
Well what can I say about Mitsubishi’s (CC) Lancer GSR? It was launched in Australia in 1992, it had 141kW, 255Nm of torque, AWD, and a kerb weight of just over a 1000 kilograms. It was a rocket; 0-100km/h was dispatched in 7 seconds, which does not seem fast these days, but back then a Falcon or Commodore V8 took 8 to 9 seconds, so that was quick...
Buying my first car was always going to be a struggle between heart and head. The heart, of course, was saying “Go for the 10-year-old Alfa GT”. The head (and dad) was saying “Go for something new or near new and reliable”. Enter the Mitsubishi Lancer, a car that some might sarcastically argue is almost as old as my dad...
So..... bought my Evo X FE about a month ago.
