Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis will continue its expansion as a standalone range in 2021, and the number of showrooms will grow from one to three.
The existing Genesis G70 mid-size sedan – a rival to the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C Class – gains a facelift to bring its design in line with the twin horizontal headlight and tail-light theme introduced on the recent G80 and GV80.
Although it is technically the same as today's Genesis G70 – but with new front and rear styling – the interior will also gain a freshen-up.
It is yet to be confirmed, but there is a chance the Genesis G70 wagon will accompany the sedan's facelift in the first half of the year.
Genesis will also introduce its second SUV, the mid-size GV70 (pictured above), which is due to be powered by a 2.5-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol, a twin turbo 3.5-litre V6 petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel.
There has been speculation overseas about an electric version of the Genesis G80 limousine, however this is yet to be confirmed.
There have also been spy shots of another, dedicated electric vehicle for Genesis with the code name JW, but this model too remains shrouded in secrecy.
At the moment there is only one Genesis store – in the heart of the Sydney CBD – which is owned by Hyundai Australia. The next factory-direct store is due to open in Melbourne in the first half of 2021, and third showroom is due in Brisbane in the second half of 2021.
