The next pinnacle Ferrari model, currently the Ferrari Enzo (or F60), will feature the same HY-KERS regenerative braking technology as the 599 Concept, reports say. According to AutoWeek, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo - head of Ferrari - has confirmed that the next 'Enzo' will feature hybrid technology, similar to that used on the 599 HY-KERS.
European emission standards are being set lower and lower and car companies must not produce more than a set quota of average CO2 across the maker's range. Ferrari has said using such technology will allow the company to continue building and selling high-output, eight-plus cylinder engines. Ferrari has also said it will commence building smaller and lighter models in the near future.
Ferrari said in 2009 the Ferrari Enzo successor will be released in 2012.
